Don Howerton

Don Howerton is Senior Director of Commercial Procurement at Pacific Gas and Electric Company. Don’s organization of approximately seventy people is responsible securing sufficient long-term energy resources to meet the needs of PG&E’s 16 million customers. The Commercial Procurement team negotiates and executes long-term purchase agreements for renewable and GHG-free energy, energy storage, resource adequacy and other wholesale energy products. He also oversees mid-term planning, analysis and financial hedging of the company’s electric portfolio.

Don joined PG&E in 2003 as transactional energy counsel. In 2013, Don moved to the Energy Policy and Procurement department where he has been in leadership for nine of the last eleven years, having also spent two years as a leader in the Customer Care department. Prior to PG&E, Don was counsel for the Williams Companies, an energy trading and gas pipeline company based in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
