Chris Kirksey

Managing Director High Road Clean Energy

Chris Kirksey is a Managing Director of High Road Clean Energy, a utility scale solar project development firm, focused on early stage projects in ERCOT.  He is also the founding Principal for LEO Energy, an advisory service for power industry market participants.  Mr. Kirksey was the Director of Projects for the Summit Power Group where he was involved in the development of a diverse portfolio of projects including the Texas Clean Energy Project, an IGCC project with 90% CO2 capture, natural gas fired projects, and renewable power projects, including wind and solar.

In this role, he successfully negotiated Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) for several projects, including agreements with PG&E and CPS Energy.  Prior to joining Summit in 2009, Mr. Kirksey held the position of Sr. Vice President of Power Production for Austin Energy, the City of Austin’s municipally owned electric utility, where he was responsible for executive oversight of Austin Energy’s electric power generation facilities which include nuclear, coal, and natural gas fueled plants.

Mr. Kirksey has served as a director on the boards of the Summit Power Group and the South Texas Project Nuclear Operating Company.  He received his BS in Mechanical Engineering from Texas Tech University and is a member of the Texas Tech Academy of Mechanical Engineers, serving as Chair in 2015.  Mr. Kirksey is currently a member of the Industrial Advisory Committee for the David L. Hirschfeld Department of Engineering at Angelo State University and a member of the City of Rollingwood Utility Commission. He is a registered Professional Engineer in the state of Texas.
