Hurel Johnson currently is the US Director of Operations for Utility-Scale Solar Generation. Hurel joined Engie in 2020.Hurel has over 25 years of engineering and operations experience working in multiple industries including electric utility, aerospace & defense, chemical storage, and electric service industries in multiple roles of increased responsibility. He also has over 35 years of military service reaching the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He is the recipient of multiple awards for his military service including the Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, and the Bronze Star Medal for valor for his service in Afghanistan.
Hurel is a graduate of the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, AR with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. He completed his MBA from Webster University and a Master of Project Management degree from the Keller Graduate School of Management. He also holds the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification and a professional certificate, Data Science for Executives, from Columbia University.
Hurel has been married for over 26 years to his wife Rhonda. Together have two children, Xavier and Oliva. When not working, Hurel enjoys attending his kid’s sporting events.
