Chad Raines

I am a 4th-generation farmer from Dawson County, Texas. Our family farm, Key Farms, Inc., is comprised of myself, my parents, and my oldest son, Ross. We currently raise our sheep on solar farms as a tool to manage the vegetation. We provide vegetation maintenance on 11 solar sites comprising approximately 20,000 acres across Texas, Arkansas, and Louisiana. I have been married to LeeAnne for 25 years and I have 2 sons, Ross (23) and Jackson (20). Prior to grazing sheep on solar farms, we raised our sheep on farmland by grazing cover crops. We were able to use this practice to convert our land to “certified organic”. Prior to sheep farming we were traditional row crop farmers raising cotton, milo, and peanuts.
