
Liz Delaney
Liz Delaney is New Leaf Energy’s vice president of utility-scale policy and business development. As a senior leader of the company’s utility-scale development division, Liz focuses on market and commercialization strategy and, over the last five years, has helped the company build a 12 GW pipeline of storage and solar projects across the country. Liz oversees a team of experts who engage in regional and national policy advocacy efforts and advance strategic business development activities in target markets. Liz’s team also powers the company’s market and grid analytics efforts, helping New Leaf navigate complex transmission and interconnection challenges and identify key locations for greenfield solar and storage development. Liz has testified several times in front of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) on topics such as interconnection reform, renewable energy, and grid reliability. Before joining New Leaf Energy (formerly Borrego Solar Systems), Liz was a market design expert and policy advocate, representing Environmental Defense Fund at ISO New England and the New England Power Pool (NEPOOL), where she also had the privilege of serving as a NEPOOL officer.
Throughout her career in energy and the environment, Liz has also worked for Harvard University, Earthwatch Institute, and the Eastern Research Group on various initiatives advancing energy efficiency, renewable energy policy, climate science, and corporate sustainability. Very early in her career, Liz was a secondary science teacher and taught a broad range of subjects in inner-city and international schools. Liz received her undergraduate degree from Boston College, her master’s from George Washington University, and holds a certificate in energy innovation from Stanford University.
