Soo Jin Kim

Vice President of Standards and Registration North American Electric Reliability Corporation

Soo Jin Kim is the vice president of Standards and Registration. In this role, she is responsible for providing leadership and support for activities in all aspects of NERC’s continent-wide standards and the registration of users, owners, and operators of the bulk power system.

Throughout her time at NERC, Ms. Kim has worked on numerous initiatives involving Standards, Engineering, Compliance, and coordination across the ERO Enterprise. She joined NERC in 2012 as a standards developer and has since served as reliability manager and senior manager of Standards in addition to director of Power Risk Issues and Strategic Management (PRISM). She was the vice president of Engineering, Standards, and PRISM from 2023–2026.

Prior to joining NERC, Ms. Kim was an energy lawyer in Washington, D.C. where she worked on a variety of Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and Environmental Protection Agency matters. Prior to attending law school, she was a consultant/business analyst with various consulting firms in their utility practices.

Ms. Kim has a bachelor’s degree in Economics and English from the University of Georgia and her juris doctor degree from American University, Washington College of Law.
